Luke 23:34: "Jesus said, 'Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.'" Even as the nails were being driven into his arms, Jesus forgave those who sought to kill him. Why are we then so slow to forgive?
People are always looking for answers to some deep questions about faith and the future and the end of the world. We look to the words of Jesus in Luke 21: "As for what you see here, the time will come when not one stone will be left on another; every one of them will be thrown down.”
"The truth of the matter is, we all come to prayer with a tangled mass of motives–altruistic and selfish, merciful and hateful, loving and bitter. Frankly, this side of eternity we will never unravel the good from the bad, the pure from the impure. But what I have come to see is that God is big enough to receive us with all our mixture. We do not have to be bright, or pure, or filled with faith, or anything. That is what grace means, and not only are we saved by grace, we live by it as well. And we pray by it." ~ Richard J. Foster, Prayer: Finding the Heart’s True Home
